End of Day 5 – End of Tournament

Another main event of the WSOP round has come to a close, and after five days of quality poker, at 4:00 a.m. local time in the Czech Republic, Josef Gulas Jr. defeated Frenchman Johan Guilbert in the final hand to claim the prestigious prize of 1,276,712 euros. Guilbert's second-place finish is also impressive, promising him a prize of 789,031 euros.

Josef's victory in front of his home fans makes him the eighth Czech player to win a prestigious WSOP bracelet. Notably, at least 4 of the Czech players' wins have happened on their home turf at King Resort.

Last Hand:

In the final hand, Guilbert came up short with a pair of 2s and went all-in, while Josef, holding an A of Diamond and an 8 of Spades, called quickly. The flop offered Guilbert little hope for a chip double-up – J of Diamond, K of Club, 3 of Heart, and the Turn came 7 of Diamond. The River brought 8 of Heart, giving Josef a pair of 8s, securing his win in the hand and the entire tournament. Well done!

Tournament Summary: A total of 688 player entries generated a prize pool of 6,536,000 Euros, with the top 104 players receiving prizes.
